Poverty Simulation Event

May 15, 2008
The purpose of the Poverty Simulation is to help provide sensitivity to the day-to-day realities of living in poverty. This event serves to educate participants about the causes and conditions of poverty by having them assume the identity of an individual living on a limited budget for a "month." The simulation is divided into four 15-minute sessions, each representing a week in the life of a person living in poverty. Participants will be randomly assigned to the identity of an individual, and will receive a packet of information containing instructions, a profile sheet and other necessary items before navigating through the town of "Realville."
