Committee Corner

On May 22, 2006, the Pennsylvania Nutrition Education Network (PA NEN) held its annual spring meeting at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Harrisburg, PA. In order to provide the opportunity for all PA NEN members to be actively involved in the Network, members were asked to indicate their interest in participating on one or more of the eight PA NEN committees. As such, the PA NEN staff would like to take this opportunity to briefly highlight each committee and thank all those who are taking the time to serve and provide leadership for the programs and activities of the Network. We’re looking forward to an exciting and productive year!

  • Steering Committee : Serves as governing body of the PA NEN by advising the NEN Management Entity, Department of Public Welfare and Food and Nutrition Service on programs, policies and activities within the bounds of the NEN Mission. Membership is by election only.

  • Executive Committee : Provides ongoing leadership for the Network, advancing the policies, guidelines and activities adopted by the Steering Committee. Members are elected from the Steering Committee.

  • Social Marketing Committee : Identifies initiatives and reviews the social marketing plans of the Network.

  • Research Committee : Facilitates the development and implementation of research projects related to low-income audiences served by Network members.

  • Annual Meeting / Conference Committee : Provides leadership on preparing proposals and recommendations for the annual statewide meeting and other general Network meetings.

  • Outreach Committee : Recruits new Network members and Pennsylvania Nutrition Education Tracks (TRACKS) project sponsors.
  • Strategic Positioning Committee : Makes recommendations to the Steering Committee on the Network’s committee structure and the roles, responsibilities and functions of the committees.

  • NEP Advisory Committee : Provides input to the PA TRACKS Manager and PA NEN Steering Committee on issues related to the food stamp nutrition education.
