Exciting Updates to the PA NEN Web site!
You may have noticed some changes to the PA NEN Web site. We have been working all year to build the members-only section. During the summer we will provide you with a unique username and password to enter the members-only pages. Until then, please explore the site and the new features using ‘panen’ for the username and password.
Updated Membership Application: The membership application is now easier than ever to use. We’ve also added some new questions and more options to get a better picture of members’ needs.
Dynamic Membership Database: The membership database is now automatically updated when a new member joins online. For those members who signed up using a paper form, we’ve manually entered the information. All 558 PA NEN members are listed in the membership database, which is searchable by last name and is available to members only.
Online Event Registration: From now on, all PA NEN professional development events will have an online option for registration and payment. Many of you may have used it for this year’s Strengthening the Food Resource Safety Net Conference, or for the upcoming Intergenerational Nutrition Education Workshop: FRIDGE. If you have any comments on the form, please be sure to share them with us at panen@pahunger.org.
SNAP Materials: Eighteen groups of vegetable materials are available at no cost on the PA NEN Web site. The PA SNAP Team heard your suggestions and removed the months associated with the materials. Scroll down to see New! materials for Cabbage, Mushrooms, Carrots, Onions, Cauliflower, and Sweet Potatoes.
Spanish DPR Materials: A Guide to Whole Grain Foods and A Guide to Eating Well digital photo receiver programs are now available in Spanish. Click on the PDFs to review these new programs.
Listserv Archive: Have you ever misplaced an email that was sent over the PA NEN listserv and spent time searching your inbox for the valuable information? Search no more. We have created a page on the Web site so that you can have easy access to listserv messages. The archive is updated monthly and is available to only PA NEN members.
Nutrition Education Database: Our Nutrition Education Database is now live! State-wide nutrition education program data is searchable for PA NEN members through queries based on county, target audience, program components, and program goals. A mapping function also shows the distribution of these programs throughout the state. We have thirty-three maps that are searchable by program components, program goals, target audience, food stamp eligibility, and Pa Tracks funding. To search for a program or to enter your own program into the database, visit panen.psu.edu/NEDB.htm.
PA NEN Members’ Forum: This is a new function that won’t work without your input. If you are involved in any of the nine PA NEN committees, the Forum is a place for you to discuss topics, post documents, and share information in a centralized place. We also are considering hosting discussion topics and speakers on the Forum.
Site Map: Finally, if this seems overwhelming, we have created a site map so that you can have quick overview to all pages on the website.
